About Doc Swinson’s Exploratory Cask Bossa Nova Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Exploratory Cask Bossa Nova Straight Bourbon Whiskey starts with the same delicious base as all Doc Swinson’s expressions ― a blend of 2 MGP mash bills. The first consists of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley, while the second is distilled from 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. Bossa Nova takes its inspiration from Brazil’s rainforest and sand beaches ― exotic is the name of the game. After the base whiskey spent 5 years maturing in American oak (#4 char) casks, it was finished in amburana casks. Amburana is a Brazilian legume tree that’s all the rage in whiskey-making due to its unique capabilities when it comes to maturation. In this case, it imparted cinnamon spice and sweetness to the whiskey, resulting in a well-rounded sipper that’s bottled at 112.8 proof. Bossa Nova won a Double Platinum medal at the 2023 Ascot Awards.
