About Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 28 Bourbon Whiskey
Jefferson’s Bourbon was founded in 1997 by Trey Zoeller and his father Chet as a family affair. Trey strives to push the boundaries of bourbon with his curious mindset while upholding the rich family whisky-making tradition. Nowhere is his taste for experimentation as apparent as in the Jefferson’s Ocean lineup of whiskey that’s aged on a ship, where it’s subjected to constant movement and extreme weather changes. In 2012, the first barrels began their journey around the world on OCEARCH’s flagship, a non-profit organization studying marine species. Voyage 28 had the whiskey’s journey begin in the Port of Savannah, Georgia, sailing down the coast of Central America during hot and humid weather with no rain. The rest of the journey through the Caribbean and up the Atlantic coast was smooth, with the humidity, temperature swings, and changing sea conditions making for a balanced, rich, and complex expression.
